50 classic tales starring your child

Your child in the story everyone knows

Under Classics in the menu you now find 50 stories to start from: Little Red Riding Hood, The Wonderful Adventures of Nils, Heidi, The Wind in the Willows, A Christmas Carol and many more. You decide who plays whom. Your child can be Nils, grandma can be Akka, and the dog can have a part too.

The roles, places and most of the pictures are ready in advance. That is why a classic is finished faster than a story you make up from scratch.

How it works

1. Open Classics and tap a cover. The shelf has three sections: Fairy Tales, Children's Books and Grown-up Classics, Kid-Friendly.
2. Who's in? Tap a role, upload a picture and type the name. If you are logged in, you can pick one of your saved characters instead. Skip the step and the story stays as in the book.
3. What's the plot? Tell the story as in the book, give it your own twist, write what happened afterwards or before, let it meet another classic, or make up a brand-new story in the same world.
4. For whom? Choose the reading age and whether the story is short (8 pages) or full (15 pages).
5. Tap Write the story. The story workshop writes the manuscript, and then you illustrate the book as usual.

The books, not the films

All 50 classics are free to use in Sweden because their authors died more than 70 years ago, and the texts are on Project Gutenberg. The characters are designed from the books, not from the films. Dorothy in The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, for example, wears silver shoes as in the book, not the red shoes from the film.

The Christmas offer

• 10,000 bt for your first book. Create your first book before 1 December and you get 10,000 bt. That is enough for 100 illustrated books. The offer applies to an account with a confirmed email address whose first book is created from 20 October.
• A fixed price. Illustrating a book costs 100 bt, and changing a page costs nothing.
• Order before 4 December and the printed book arrives in time for Christmas. The magazine costs 199 SEK and the hardcover book 399 SEK. Books are delivered to Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland.

The hardcover book needs at least 30 pages. A full classic has 15, so combine two stories in one book or add your own photos when you order.

Frequently asked questions

I have already made books. Do I get 10,000 bt too? No, they are for the first book. The classics, the fixed price and free page changes are for everyone.

What happens to my bt after 1 December? They stay in your account as ordinary bt and do not expire.

Did you miss the 4 December deadline? A finished book can always be downloaded as a PDF at no extra cost.

Can I mix classics and my own stories? Yes. Illustrate as many as you like in November, then choose which ones to print.
