Update the manuscript and individual pages with a prompt
Edit text, prompt pages and the whole story – and understand what happens to the illustrations.
The manuscript stays alive – until you are happy
In barnbok.ai you do not have to accept the first draft. The manuscript step offers several ways to adjust – from a small text change to an entirely new story. Different choices affect the illustrations differently, so it pays to know the difference.
"A small prompt can be enough to make a page funnier – but sometimes you want to rewrite the whole story. Pick the right tool so you do not re-illustrate unnecessarily."
Edit text by hand
Open a page in Read manuscript, change the text and save. The illustration is kept – perfect for spelling, a name change or a shorter sentence.
Update a page with AI
Select characters and write a prompt – for example "add that they find a red balloon". Click Update page with AI. The text is rewritten; if the page already had an image, the illustration is removed so you can generate a new one that matches.
Polish the whole story
Under Whole story you write a prompt such as "make it calmer and shorter" or "add a friend". The manuscript is rewritten. Cover and page illustrations are removed, but character portraits are usually kept – so you do not have to start over with the figures.
Update the whole story from a new idea
Want a complete change of direction? Enter a new story idea. Then the cover, pages and character portraits disappear – you start the illustrations from the beginning.
New variant and new premise
- New variant – a randomized regeneration with the same settings (like polishing)
- New premise (from Adjust) – a completely new story from scratch; requires confirmation
Conclusion
Small changes? Edit by hand. Does one page need a plot change? Prompt the page and re-illustrate it. Should the whole story feel different? Polish – but be ready for page images to be generated again.
